"Pa, you're just rilly silly,"  Calin (4 years old)

A personal note from the Scovels:

Visit Our BLog

A journal about the not so ordinary life of an artist, a writer, three dogs, two cats and a few other assorted critters who live together, work together and more often than not -  love together.

After 31 years of marriage, living all over the United States and surviving eight teenagers, we know family is what its all about.  Over the years and the miles, we've been fortunate to meet many wonderful people who have become part of our "extended" family" . . . fellow artists, "brothers in arms," ports in the storm and just plain old friends to the end.  We can't even imagine our lives without you.

This part of the website is called A Personal Album - the perfect place to keep you all posted on the goings-on at the Y-ME Ranch.

For friends and family, a quick update on where everyone is and what they're up to:

Staci and her husband, Cody, live on The Steele Ranch (Cody's family ranch) near Fort Sumner, New Mexico, with their four children, several horses and assorted other ranch animals.  Our oldest grandson, Kolt, just turned 14  and is into every sport known to man - but alas, he's also discovered girls (and they've discovered him) which puts a different twist on everything.  His younger sister, Johni, is 11 and has turned into quite the barrel racer!  She won her first buckle last summer but we're sure it won't be her last.  Creed and Keeli (or as they say it, Cweed and Keewi) will be 5 this year and are still THE main attraction when it comes to entertainment.  The Creedster loves to ride and would sleep in his boots if Staci would let him.  He is obsessed Kolt's sports events and insists on wearing the appropriate jersey to every game.   Keeli is just a strikingly beautiful and charming little girl with her mother's dramatic blue eyes and stubborn attitude.  They're as different as night and day but they're also intuitively in tune to each other as all twins are.  They're such a joy to watch.

Below: Christi and her family live in nearby Austin with her two, Codi Ann and Calin.  Christi will be graduating next year from Texas State University with a degree in Biology and History.  She and Tina bought and ran a deli in downtown Austin for a little over a year - sold it and both now plan to use the money to get advanced degrees.   Below, Christi, her partner, Tina, and the kids posed all nice for a family picture over Thanksgiving.  Codi Ann just turned 11 (going on 20) and loves to draw and paint and play computer games. Calin is 8 and all little boy.  He's smart, witty and always has the most vivid imagination of any child we know.     Below left, Codi Ann and her brother, Calin.

Hillary lives in Arkansas with her three boys, Jackson, 8, Max, 4 and Lane, 2, so you know she has her hands full all the time.  She just started a great new job as property manager for a large apartment complex in Centerton, Arkansas and just loves it.

Below left:   Kevin lives in Amarillo and works as a bartender though we're wearing him down slowly about going back to school.  Below Right:   Lonny and crew (literally.)  Some of you will remember Lonny who came to live with us when he was barely 18 and a freshman in college.  Lonny did a stint in the Air Force as a C-130 pilot and is now a Captain for Southwest Airlines, based out of Orange County, Ca.  He lives and plays in Seattle, Washington.
